Carbon Hill, Alabama was begun as a small mining town in extreme Western Walker County. The city is located at 33°53′26″N 87°31′28″W / 33.89056°N 87.52444°W / 33.89056; -87.52444 (33.890690, -87.524307)[1].

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.6 square miles (14.5 km²), of which, 5.5 square miles (14.3 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.90%) is water.

 

 

The City of Carbon Hill is making preparations to build a Coal Miner Memorial.  The City is selling memorial bricks in honor of the area coal miners of the past and present.  The price is $25.00 per brick.  There can be up to 3 lines and 20 characters per line (see form).  There is no deadline for brick puchases.  Bricks purchased after the placement of the memorial will be added as purchased.  All funds collected for the memorial are being placed in a seperate account which will be used only for the construction of the memorial. You may purchase a brick at the Carbon Hill City Hall, hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM and Wednesday, 8:00 12:00 PM, or mail in your form with payment to Coal Miner Memorial c/o City of Carbon Hill, P.O.
